Deer impact is a serious issue for farmers, foresters and horticultural businesses. This FREE event aims to inform and encourage better deer management; and to foster collaborative approaches across the Cranborne Chase National Landscape.
This event has been organised by the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme in Cranborne Chase and will be run in partnership with the British Deer Society.
Priority booking will be given to is for farmers, land owners / managers and deer managers across the Cranborne Chase National Landscape.

Morning programme to include:
· Why we need more informed deer management
· Landowners working together on a landscape scale
· The market for venison
· What you need from a deer manager
· Drone surveys for population counts
· Applying for a licence to shoot deer at night
Buffet Lunch at the Larmer Tree provided
Afternoon programme:
An estate visit to look at how to measure the impacts of deer and deer management on woodland, hedges and crops, and answer any other questions which might arise.
Please make us aware of any dietary or access requirements at point of booking. Please dress appropriately in warm clothes and sturdy footwear for the afternoon estate visit.
