Free Training in Oral History Interviewing!

Monday 13th September, 11am-5pm.

Coombe Bissett Village Hall, Shutts Lane, Coombe Bissett, Salisbury SP5 4LU

Memories Captured is a project designed to collect local voices and stories of rural life and traditions of Cranborne Chase and how they have changed today.  The area’s rich rural life and farming history will be shared to thousands of people online.

During the day Maria Gayton from the Dorset History Centre will train you in skills needed to interview as an oral historian:

  • Project background and aims
  • Use of digital audio and video equipment
  • Working safely
  • Project planning, ethics and paperwork
  • Interview technique – how to get the conversation flowing (in the right direction!)
  • Outreach ideas – how to find interviewees
  • Preparing files for use

Plenty of time for practice and discussion.

We are especially interested in finding young people who would like to take part in this training but everyone is welcome.

This is part of our Memories Captured project and is run by our Community Engagement Officer, Charlotte Moreton. Please get in touch with Charlotte charlottemoreton@cranbornechase.org.uk to find out more and to book your place.
