Farming in Protected Landscapes

FiPL has been extended for a further year from 1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026. We will be setting local priorities for projects, based on the new Cranborne Chase National Landscape Management Plan and emerging Nature Recovery Plan – whilst still achieving FiPL outcomes regarding Nature, Climate, People and Place.

Our Local Assessment Panel (made up of representatives from the farming and land management community; local specialists; and Natural England) will be meeting in April 2025 to consider these local priorities for FiPL in Cranborne Chase National Landscape.

We will be making an announcement via our online newsletter and social media, so please sign up here to ensure you’re first to receive the news.

Launched by Defra in 2021, to date the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme has awarded nearly £2 million to farmers and land managers in Cranborne Chase.

FiPL funding is for farmers and land managers carrying out one-off projects that support at least one of the following:

  • Nature recovery
  • Mitigate the impacts of climate change
  • Provide opportunities for people to discover, enjoy and understand the landscape and cultural heritage
  • Support nature-friendly, sustainable farm businesses

Your project must also help to deliver at least one of the objectives of the Cranborne Chase National Landscape Management Plan.

The programme is open to all farmers and land managers (including from the private, public and charity sector) in Cranborne Chase National Landscape, or where activity can benefit the National Landscape, and runs until March 2026.
